The Tommy Wi-Show

So, I have to admit I was a little excited when I heard that Tommy Wiseau would be doing a video game review show. As an avid fan of the worst/best movie in history The Room I figured there would have to be some comedy genius here. I think I might have been wrong about that but I still can't tell.

Here is the premise as far as I can tell. Tommy is the greatest champion video gamer in the world and is abducted by aliens for short periods of time to try and beat the games. In the first installment Tommy mumbles and bumbles his way through Mortal Kombat.
He doesn't offer any feedback on the game whatsoever. Maybe that was the point? Or maybe the point is that he is so terrible at video games that it just has to be funny. I'm not thoroughly convinced that there is any value here and am certain that there is no value if you are trying to decide if you want to buy a particular game that he has supposedly reviewed.

If you want laughs from Tommy Wiseau I would recommend watching The Room over and over again but if you would like to see what his show is like you can check it out below. Happy gaming!

Braden and the Waterslide of Time

What better way to get this blog rolling again then with a movie review of my own son. He is amazing, dashing and heroic. He practically bounces off the screen into your living room. Watch and learn as Braden takes on the Waterslide of Time!

This movie was directed by my brother so if you don't like it you can blame him.

Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg

With their self title release, Wolfmother took the world by storm. A rock storm with lightning and magicians and all sorts of fantastical creatures. After a four year stint of touring and recording they are back! I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about a second effort from a band that seemed to do everything right on their first effort but I was proved wrong. "California Queen," the first track off of the new album, erases all doubt about a second into the track. It's a driving, epic track that just destroys your eardrums in a good way. I'd describe the rest of the tracks off this Led Zeppelin, Black Sabathesque album but I really think you outta listen for yourself.

Pearl Jam : Greatest Hits (Bagel's List.)

I can still remember the first time I saw a clip for Pearl Jam's 'Alive' during a commercial for MTV's 120 minutes. Later, I waited patiently for Matt Pinfield, to play the full song on the show. I think that I fell off my chair in disbelief at how much emotion was in that song. I ran out and bought the CD the following day. Without a doubt, Pearl Jam's Ten (along with Nirvana) completely reformed my musical taste. For nearly ten years Pearl Jam was the soundtrack of my life. I started writing poetry because of the influence that Eddie Vedder's lyrics had on me and also picked up a guitar for the first time. In the weeks that lead up to Pearl Jam's incredibly disappointing new release (Backspacer) I did a lot of listening to the old catalog. Thus this list was formed. I am well aware that there is already a greatest hits album available for Pearl Jam but it doesn't get the tracks or the order right for me. I know that I've likely left off quite a few of other folks' favorites but this list includes the songs that had the most profound affect on me over the years. I can't say that Pearl Jam is my favorite band anymore but taking this journey through all of these albums has opened up the passion that I used to feel for their music. I feel like a kid again.

Bagel Whisperer? What's that all about?

Now that I have made two posts I should probably let you know what this blog is all about. For those of you that had read my previous blog at tumblr you will already get the idea. I love music, books, movies and strange things found on the Internet. I also like to share. Basically, I will be reviewing most of the things mentioned above as well as sharing things, new and old, that I find to be good or interesting. I will also be throwing up some best of lists while still maintaining my blog about things I don't like to admit that I love.

I would also love to hear any recommendations you have so please leave a comment!

Lastly, why the name? I can't really say. I think it's mostly because I find it funny. No, I can't cream a bagel just by talking to it but I can calm a horse by feeding it a bagel. That didn't really answer anything did it?

Thanks for reading!

The Host - A Great Act From Cincinnati

A while back I was surfing the 61 for some new music and I happened to stumble across an upload by a band called The Host. No one had listened to or commented on the track but the image that they had uploaded had caught my eye so I decided to take a listen. What followed for me was somewhat of a mass hysteria. Was I really hearing what I thought I was hearing? Nearly flawless vocals that hearkened back to hearing Zack from At-the-drive-in for the first time. It was undeniably good and fresh. I sent the song to everyone I knew on the sixty one so that it could be heard and appreciated. It was the top track on the site in a matter of hours. Here is the track that I heard that day -

The rest of the tracks found on the sixty one are phenomenal as well and they do have two discs you can purchase on their website.

Do yourself a favor and give them a listen.
